Obsessed: Work Hard, Play Hard!
We work, we play; we work, we play.
It’s those busy work weeks that leave us anxiously waiting for the weekend.
Fortunately, we discovered The Weekend Warmup at CosmoLava: a festive night of drinks, music and dancing every Thursday night. It’s the hottest place to go for a mid-week pick-me-up, an end of the week wind down or a pre-game for the weekend.
You can now look forward to every week knowing that The Weekend Warmup has an array of cocktails and a variety of music lead by DJ’s Cam I AM and Jeremy Ladd.
Ladd is an Atlanta favorite among DJs, always playing the hottest hits. He’s been involved in all aspects of entertainment from an emcee, to DJ, to acting and voice-overs. His perfection and experience in the industry make him one of the most sought-after DJs across the country, and a great addition to The Weekend Warmup.
CosmoLava is the “Ultimate Midtown Experience” with its six bars, four dance floors and delicious cocktails. Not to mention, it has three levels so there’s plenty of room for large parties and events!
It’s our latest obsession, and the greatest place to be every Thursday night. cosmolava.com

The annual Costa’s Greekfest continues its tradition of booking a mix of genres this weekend, when rapper Nelly and jam band Umphrey’s McGee play the fifth annual end-of-summer concert.
Greek organizations on the University of Alabama campus, with sponsorship from Costa, makers of sunglasses and outdoor apparel, put on the shows as back-to-school fundraisers, with past acts including Pretty Lights, Dierk Bentley, Robert Earl Keen, G. Love and Special Sauce, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Slightly Stoopid, Keller Williams and moe. The 2011 show raised $45,000 for UA Greek Relief and the Billfish Foundation.
The concert with Nelly and Umphrey’s McGee will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24 on the intramural athletics fields on the east side of campus. Nelly’s hits include “Hot in Herre,” “Ride Wit Me,” “My Place,” “Air Force Ones,” “Over and Over,” “Grillz,” “Dilemma” and “Just a Dream.” Though the rapper has played Birmingham a handful of times, including City Stages and the Schaeffer Crawfish Boil in 2011, this seems to be his first Tuscaloosa show.
Progressive-rock jam band Umphrey’s McGee has played here numerous times, including a concert at the Bama Theatre in October. Although definitely a jam band in the sense of playing free-form improvisational shows, Umphrey’s McGee identifies more with the prog-rock or the art-rock sound of bands such as Yes, King Crimson and Pink Floyd than the laid-back psychedelia of the Grateful Dead.
Tickets are $25 each. UA students can buy one student and up to two guest tickets through their myBama accounts. Fraternity and sorority members may also get tickets through their houses.
THE TAVERN AT PHIPPS TOASTS THE BIG 2-0
Anniversary Party is on October 13th
ATLANTA (October 9, 2012) – The Tavern at Phipps is set to host a spectacular, fun-filled night to celebrate their 20th Anniversary this Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. This memorable event is open to the public, with free admission. The night will feature past and present flair bartenders, including a fellow Buckhead entrepreneur. Bartenders will take turns entertaining the crowd as well as hold a competition. Anticipate plenty of dancing, live deejay, an extended patio and Atlanta’s “best looking staff”.
In October 1992 The Tavern opened its doors at Phipps Plaza and began an advantageous relationship with its Buckhead neighbors. Twenty years later, the Tavern is an Atlanta fixture with many of the same staff and guests frequenting the popular restaurant and bar.
On this day, “we celebrate our loyal guests, dedicated staff and quality purveyors for their continuing support as partners in our growth,” said Greg Greenbaum, proprietor of The Tavern at Phipps.
The Tavern is known for its big portions and great variety, offering many signature items including: extravagant salads, authentic New Orleans po’boys, Carnegie Deli pastrami and the notable crowd pleaser, eight varieties of Tavern chips- a heaping pile of crisp tortilla chips layered with ingredients such as andouille sausage, barbecue chicken, crawfish, creamy spinach or lobster sauce.
Offering live entertainment nightly, including Country Night every Saturday. The Tavern at Phipps is located at 3500 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA 30326 and is open daily at 11:00 a.m. Parking is available throughout Phipps Plaza. House of Music debuted our new 65 inch TVs with Absolute Entertainment for a corporate event at the Renaissance Waverly in Marietta, GA. Dj Huda Hudia was in charge of the video presentation for this awesome 80′s party. Jeff and Cid from Absolute Entertainment did an awesome job as always putting the event together. Complete with a 1980,s arcade that even included an Atari, and props and costumes for all. Sharon Fischer from Button It Up Photography was there to do real-time photo processing so the guest can have memory of the event that will last a lifetime. Planning an event like that is always challenging, but with an A+ team like that, it was a perfect event. Thanks to all…

Wedding After Party with the Meddin Family
Congratulations to Shea and Christina Meddin as the embark on the Newlywed adventure…. The wedding was awesome, and DJ Jeremy kept the after party going until almost 4:00 am. The St. Regis in Buckhead was awesome in planning the event. It showed through in the end as it lived up to everyone’s expectations.
Music Midtown Open House Party with House of Music
We can officially stop wondering if Music Midtown is back, and so is the House of Music weekend party on Piedmont!! Mario hosted a huge party across the street from Piedmont Park complete with BBQ catering, refreshments and a whole lot of people…. Here is a little write up from Acces Atlanta:
If you have a sold out crowd of more than 50,000 in Piedmont Park then yes, it’s an unqualified success.
Though Peter Conlon, president of Live Nation Atlanta, the promoter that produced the event, could have been doing a shout-from-the-rooftops victory lap at the end of the night, he simply noted that the “better-than-anticipated success” of this year’s event “has re-established Music Midtown as one of the country’s top festivals.”
Atlanta Magazine Groundbreakers Event with Mayor Kasim Reed
Meet the inaugural class of Atlanta Magazine Groundbreakers—people and projects shaping the future of the city and tackling our future challenges. All of the Groundbreakers represent works in progress: smart ideas that are under way but still have years—in at least one case, a couple of decades—to go before their potentials are fully realized. That may sound idealistic, but we selected these Groundbreakers out of dozens of candidates because they combine imagination with pragmatism. They tackle real problems. They embody a shift in Atlanta development. They’re built on foresight about our changing demographics. And yes, there is a robot.
