Barrister’s Ball 2013 at The Fox Theater

Barrister's Ball @ The Fox 10

House of Music was please to work with the John Marshall Law School annual Barrister Ball event. It was a great success and an awesome crowd that attended. Big thanks to everyone that participated.

Here is what they had to say about us:
I am SO GLAD that I chose House of Music to handle the Audio/Visual portion of our law school’s Barrister’s Ball. Not only were they very knowledgeable about the venue where our Ball was being held, but worked with me and DJ EU to create the EXACT vibe that we were going for. As a person not familiar with audio/visuals, I felt immediately comfortable talking to Jeremy about the details of our event. He was patient, understanding, and cooperative. He expressed details to me in an understandable way, and was receptive to what I wanted for our event. The day of our event, I was in awe of how prepared, punctual, and efficient they were. The House of Music staff working our event was equally helpful and responsive. Because of House of Music, we had a Barrister’s Ball that not only pleased in a visual and audio way, but kept the dance floor packed all night! The television that they brought for us to show the Final Four game on during the ball was also a HUGE hit!!
In all, I would recommend House of Music to anyone who asks. They are affordable, kind, helpful, and overall a great group of people! I hope I get to work with them again in the future.

House of Music on-site for Costa’s Greekfest in Tuscaloosa this weekend

The annual Costa’s Greekfest continues its tradition of booking a mix of genres this weekend, when rapper Nelly and jam band Umphrey’s McGee play the fifth annual end-of-summer concert.

Greek organizations on the University of Alabama campus, with sponsorship from Costa, makers of sunglasses and outdoor apparel, put on the shows as back-to-school fundraisers, with past acts including Pretty Lights, Dierk Bentley, Robert Earl Keen, G. Love and Special Sauce, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Slightly Stoopid, Keller Williams and moe. The 2011 show raised $45,000 for UA Greek Relief and the Billfish Foundation.

The concert with Nelly and Umphrey’s McGee will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24 on the intramural athletics fields on the east side of campus. Nelly’s hits include “Hot in Herre,” “Ride Wit Me,” “My Place,” “Air Force Ones,” “Over and Over,” “Grillz,” “Dilemma” and “Just a Dream.” Though the rapper has played Birmingham a handful of times, including City Stages and the Schaeffer Crawfish Boil in 2011, this seems to be his first Tuscaloosa show.

Progressive-rock jam band Umphrey’s McGee has played here numerous times, including a concert at the Bama Theatre in October. Although definitely a jam band in the sense of playing free-form improvisational shows, Umphrey’s McGee identifies more with the prog-rock or the art-rock sound of bands such as Yes, King Crimson and Pink Floyd than the laid-back psychedelia of the Grateful Dead.

Tickets are $25 each. UA students can buy one student and up to two guest tickets through their myBama accounts. Fraternity and sorority members may also get tickets through their houses.
